What are the Amazon FBA fees in the UK in 2026?

The Amazon FBA fees UK sellers pay in 2026 are a referral fee (8% to 15% in most categories), a fulfilment fee by size and weight (from £1.46 with Low-Price FBA, £1.83 at standard rates) and monthly storage. From 2 November 2026 Amazon adds a 2% surcharge to the fulfilment fee, and a 2% digital services fee applies to both per-sale fees. UK-established sellers also pay 20% VAT on these fees. In our example, a £15.99 toy pays an estimated £5.25 per sale before VAT, or £6.31 with VAT on fees.
Every rate below comes from Amazon's UK pages and its rate card of 1 July 2026, and one worked example adds up the per-sale charge on a typical arbitrage unit. Arbitrage Hero applies Amazon's referral and FBA fees to every match it finds in 176 UK stores. The surcharge, the digital services fee and VAT on fees are the part to check on top of those two fees.
These are the Amazon FBA fees UK sellers pay on a sale in 2026
An FBA sale on Amazon UK pays a referral fee and a fulfilment fee each time a unit sells, and a storage fee each month the unit waits in a warehouse.
| Fee | UK rate in 2026 | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Selling plan | Professional £25 a month, or Individual £0.75 per item sold, both without VAT | Every month, or every item sold |
| Referral fee | 8% to 15% of the total price in most categories (Toys and Games 15%), minimum £0.25 in most categories | Every sale, FBA or not |
| Fulfilment fee | £1.46 to £2.70 with Low-Price FBA; £1.83 to £3.58 at standard rates for envelopes and standard parcels outside the peak | Every unit Amazon ships |
| Fuel and logistics surcharge | 2% of the fulfilment fee from 2 November 2026 (1.5% from 17 April 2026) | Every unit Amazon ships |
| Digital services fee | 2% of the referral fee and the fulfilment fee (3% for sellers established in France, Italy or Spain) | Every sale in the UK store |
| Monthly storage | Standard-size, non-dangerous goods outside clothing, eyewear, footwear and bags: £0.76 per cubic foot from January to September, £1.51 from October to December | Every month a unit is stored |
| VAT on Amazon's fees | 20% | Sellers established in the UK |
Amazon's UK pricing page sets the two selling plans. The Professional plan costs £25 a month with no per-item fee. The Individual plan costs £0.75 for each item sold. Amazon UK quotes both without VAT. The Arbitrage Hero lesson on the Individual or Professional plan explains which one fits an arbitrage seller.
The fulfilment fee depends on size, weight and the £20 Low-Price line
The UK fulfilment fee is set by the unit's size tier and weight, and a lower Low-Price FBA rate applies to most small products priced at £20 or less. Amazon's Rate Card Europe Fees, effective 1 July 2026, lists the standard, peak and Low-Price rates.
| UK size tier and weight | Non-peak | Peak, 15 Oct 2026 to 14 Jan 2027 | Low-Price FBA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light envelope, up to 20 g | £1.83 | £1.83 | £1.46 |
| Standard envelope, up to 460 g | £2.16 | £2.16 | £1.87 |
| Large envelope, up to 960 g | £2.72 | £2.79 | £2.42 |
| Small parcel, up to 150 g | £2.91 | £3.02 | £2.67 |
| Small parcel, up to 400 g | £3.00 | £3.11 | £2.70 |
| Standard parcel, up to 900 g | £3.06 | £3.18 | not eligible |
Standard rates rise in the peak for parcels and large envelopes
At standard rates, a light envelope up to 20 g costs £1.83 and a standard envelope up to 460 g costs £2.16, with no change in the peak. A large envelope up to 960 g costs £2.72, or £2.79 in the peak.
A small parcel up to 150 g costs £2.91, or £3.02 in the peak, and a small parcel up to 400 g costs £3.00, or £3.11 in the peak. A standard parcel up to 900 g costs £3.06, or £3.18 in the peak, and the largest standard parcel, up to 11.9 kg, costs £3.58 outside the peak. A small parcel is at most 35 x 25 x 12 cm.
Low-Price FBA rates apply to small, light products under £20
The Low-Price FBA rates are £1.46 for a light envelope up to 20 g and £1.87 for a standard envelope. A large envelope costs £2.42, a small parcel up to 150 g £2.67 and a small parcel up to 400 g £2.70.
The rate card sets the price line at £20 including VAT in most categories. Seven categories have a £10 line: Beauty, Health and Personal Care; Business, Industrial and Scientific Supplies; Office Products; Grocery and Gourmet; Books; Amazon Device Accessories; and Kitchen. The product must also fit one of the Low-Price size tiers, from a light envelope up to a small parcel of 400 g. Amazon's pricing page says eligibility is automatic, with "no separate enrolment required".
The same pricing page has one out-of-date line. A pop-up on it still says products "priced at less than £9" may be eligible. The rest of the page and the July 2026 rate card both give £20, so £20 is the line to use.
Amazon adds two percentage fees to the referral and fulfilment fees
Amazon adds a fuel and logistics surcharge to the FBA fulfilment fee, and a digital services fee (2% for UK and US sellers) to the referral fee and the fulfilment fee. Neither applies to storage.
The fuel and logistics surcharge rises to 2% on 2 November 2026
The fuel and logistics surcharge is a percentage of the FBA fulfilment fee. Amazon started it at 1.5% on 17 April 2026, according to the rate card. Amazon's UK FBA fulfilment fees page says it rises "from 1.5% to 2%" on 2 November 2026 and also applies to the festive peak fees. On a £3.00 fulfilment fee, 2% adds £0.06.
The digital services fee adds 2% to the referral and fulfilment fees
Amazon adds a digital services fee to its fees on every sale in the UK store: 2% for sellers established in the UK, the US and most other countries, and 3% for sellers established in France, Italy or Spain. Amazon's UK digital services fee page says the fee "accounts for government digital services taxes (DST) of 2% in the UK". The same page lists the fees it is added to: the referral fee, closing fees and, in the UK, the FBA fulfilment fee. Its table gives these rates by the seller's country of establishment.
Do UK sellers pay VAT on Amazon fees?
Yes. Sellers established in the UK pay VAT on Amazon's fees, and Amazon's FAQ says this includes sellers under the VAT registration threshold. Since 1 August 2024, Amazon EU's UK branch invoices these sellers. Amazon's VAT treatment FAQ says that as a result "local VAT rules apply and VAT will be charged on your Amazon fees, where required by law." The UK standard VAT rate is 20% (GOV.UK).
Amazon expects most VAT-registered sellers to recover this VAT through their normal VAT return. A seller under the threshold is still charged VAT on fees and does not file a VAT return to recover it, so for that seller the VAT is a cost of every sale: 20% on top of every fee. A business seller established outside the UK and the EU branch countries, for example in the US, is invoiced from Luxembourg at 0% VAT, unless specific rules apply. This article explains Amazon's published fee treatment and is not tax advice. Ask a tax adviser whether you can recover VAT on fees.
What Amazon takes from one £15.99 toy sold on Amazon UK
In our example for a seller established in the UK, a £15.99 toy pays an estimated £5.25 in Amazon fees per sale after 2 November 2026, which is 32.9% of the price. With 20% VAT on fees, for a seller who cannot recover it, the estimate is £6.31, or 39.4% of the price. Storage and the selling plan are extra.
The example toy is in Toys and Games, weighs 300 g and comes in a 25 x 20 x 8 cm box, the kind of item a UK toy shop such as Hamleys sells. It fits a small parcel up to 400 g, and at £15.99 it is under the £20 line, so it gets the Low-Price FBA rate and no peak fee. The second column prices the same toy at £24.99. Above £20 it pays the standard fulfilment fee, and during the peak that fee is £3.11.
| Line | £15.99 (Low-Price FBA) | £24.99 (standard FBA, peak) |
|---|---|---|
| Referral fee, 15% | £2.40 | £3.75 |
| Fulfilment fee | £2.70 | £3.11 |
| Fuel and logistics surcharge, 2% | £0.05 | £0.06 |
| Digital services fee, 2% | £0.10 | £0.14 |
| Fees before VAT | £5.25 (32.9%) | £7.06 (28.2%) |
| VAT on fees, 20% | £1.05 | £1.41 |
| Fees with VAT | £6.31 (39.4%) | £8.47 (33.9%) |
The chart shows the five lines of the £15.99 sale. The referral fee of £2.40 and the fulfilment fee of £2.70 are most of the charge. VAT on fees, £1.05, is the third largest line for a UK seller who is not VAT-registered. The surcharge adds £0.05 and the digital services fee £0.10.
At £24.99 the toy pays £3.75 in referral fee, £3.11 in fulfilment, £0.06 in surcharge and £0.14 in digital services fee. That is £7.06 before VAT (28.2% of the price). VAT on fees adds £1.41, for £8.47 with VAT (33.9%). These estimates cover Amazon's charge on the sale only. The buy price, shipping to Amazon, prep, storage and the monthly plan fee come on top.
How the two estimates were calculated
Arbitrage Hero calculated both estimates from Amazon's published rates; they are not an invoice. We calculated every line from unrounded amounts and rounded each line and each total on its own, so a column can differ from the sum of its lines by a penny. We applied the digital services fee to the referral and fulfilment fees before the surcharge. Amazon's own rounding may give a slightly different total, and its fee preview in Seller Central and its invoice show the actual charge for your own product.
Storage costs more from October to December and as stock ages
Amazon UK charges storage every month by volume. A standard-size, non-dangerous item outside clothing, eyewear, footwear and bags costs £0.76 per cubic foot a month from January to September, and £1.51 from October to December. Clothing, eyewear, footwear, rucksacks and handbags cost £0.62 and £0.82. These are the rates of the July 2026 rate card. Dangerous goods and oversize items have their own rates.
The example toy box of 25 x 20 x 8 cm takes 0.141 cubic feet. It costs about £0.21 a month to store from October to December, and about £0.11 a month from January to September.
The UK aged inventory surcharge is £1.18 per cubic foot a month for stock aged 241 to 270 days, and £3.14 for stock aged 271 to 300 days. A storage utilisation surcharge can also apply, but not to new sellers, Individual accounts or sellers with less than 25 cubic feet of daily volume.
What to do next
Check the product's size tier, its price against the Low-Price line, its delivery date and your VAT position before you use its fee estimate in a buying decision.
- Find the size tier and the weight of the exact product in Seller Central before you buy. A box a little larger moves the unit to the next tier.
- Check the price against the Low-Price FBA line: £20 including VAT in most categories, or £10 in Beauty, Health and Personal Care; Business, Industrial and Scientific Supplies; Office Products; Grocery and Gourmet; Books; Amazon Device Accessories; and Kitchen. A unit under the line that also fits a Low-Price size tier, up to a small parcel of 400 g and 35 x 25 x 12 cm, pays less to fulfil and pays no peak fee.
- Use the 2% surcharge on the fulfilment fee for units sold from 2 November 2026. Use the peak rate only for small and standard parcels and large and extra-large envelopes delivered from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027.
- Ask a tax adviser whether you can recover VAT on Amazon's fees. If you cannot, add 20% to every Amazon fee in your own numbers.
- Price one product with the free FBA calculator, and compare the US rates in Amazon FBA fees in the US if you sell in both stores.
How much is the Amazon referral fee in the UK?
The Amazon referral fee in the UK is a percentage of the total price the buyer pays, including delivery and gift wrap, and in most categories it is between 8% and 15%. Toys and Games pay 15%, with a minimum fee of £0.25. Clothing and Accessories pay 5% up to £15, 10% from £15 to £20 and 15% above £20, according to Amazon's pricing page. The 2% digital services fee is added on top, so a 15% referral fee costs 15.3% of the price.
How much did Amazon UK FBA fees change in 2026?
Amazon UK extended Low-Price FBA to eligible products priced at £20 or less in most categories on 5 January 2026, and seven categories keep a £10 line. A fuel and logistics surcharge of 1.5% on fulfilment fees started on 17 April 2026, and it rises to 2% on 2 November 2026. For a 400 g small parcel, the fulfilment fee is £3.06 with the 2% surcharge outside the peak, and £3.17 during the peak. Amazon's July 2026 rate card says the base fulfilment fees return to the unchanged 2026 non-peak rates on 15 January 2027. That ends the peak rates; the fuel and logistics surcharge stays.
Does the Amazon UK peak fee apply to every FBA order?
The Amazon UK peak fee does not apply to every FBA order: from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027 it raises the fee for small and standard parcels and for large and extra-large envelopes only. Amazon's FBA fulfilment fees page gives these dates for selected UK orders. In the rate card, light and standard envelopes keep the same fee in the peak, and the peak fee excludes oversize and Low-Price FBA items. A 400 g small parcel pays £3.11 instead of £3.00, plus the surcharge.
